How solar power works

Solar power systems generate electricity from sunlight, using solar panels made up of many photovoltaic (PV) cells that collect the light from the sun and convert it to DC current.

The DC current is then is fed through an inverter and turned into usable electricity (240V AC) to power your home, greatly offsetting your electricity costs by minimising the amount of power you consume from the grid. The amount of electricity you produce depends on the number of panels you install, their efficiency, the size and quality of the inverter, the orientation of your roof and the amount of sunlight available in your location.

Your home remains connected to the power grid so that when you generate more electricity than you can consume, you can feed it back into the grid. You will also be able to purchase electricity from the network when the sun is not shining or when your system is not producing enough to meet your requirements.

Solahart Solar Panels

Before we include them in our range, our panels are tested for optimum performance and efficiency using solar panel flash test data and Electroluminescence (EL) imaging. We only select panels that are proven to be resistant to Potential Induced Degradation (PID) and Light Induced Degradation (LID), with state-of-the-art cell technology for excellent performance under real conditions and anodised frames built to withstand extreme weather conditions.
